| Heavenly Persian Food Pardis: (Paradise - derived from the old Iranian language Avestan: pairi-daêza meaning “a walled enclosure”) is a Persian name which refers to the opulent private parks and gardens built by Persian Kings and nobles for leisurely activities. Pardis contained orchards, flowers and water features; and were filled with a variety of birds and animals. Xenophon, an ancient Greek historian who spent some time in Persia, gave account of these famed Pardis gardens, and recorded pairi-daêza as paradeisos. Subsequently, the word paradise was transliterated to describe the Biblical Garden of Eden in all its heavenly beauty. |
